Folk artist and freedom fighter Fakir Alamgir is no more. He died of a corona on Friday (July 23) night (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilahi Raziun). The news of his death has been confirmed by his son Mashuk Alamgir Rajib. He was 61 years old. He is survived by his wife and three sons.
Fakir Alamgir suffered a heart attack while ventilating in the Covid unit around 10pm on Friday. Fakir Alamgir’s son Mashuk said he was pronounced dead at 10:58 pm. Earlier, folk musician Fakir Alamgir was taken to life support due to his deteriorating physical condition.
A few days ago, his corona symptoms appeared. Later the test report comes positive. Fakir Alamgir was admitted to the United Hospital in the capital on the night of July 15 when his condition suddenly deteriorated. He has been undergoing treatment there ever since.
Fakir Alamgir played a special role in the mass uprising of ’69 by performing mass music. He was also a member of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra as a vocalist of 1971. Not only that, this artist has fought against the enemy with arms.
